Jar and Cans and Tins Oh My!

Good to know. Lately I've been buying the 1/2 Mason Wide Mouth jars because its much easier to get the pipe in there to fill er up without splashing tobacco everywhere.

Jar and Cans and Tins Oh My!

BTW, I understand that aros don't necessary age like non-aros. So I am not really sure it matters but I just don't know. I mainly don't want my baccy to dry out. I've already made that mistake. I am trying to really stock up on baccy right now since I happen to believe that our freedom to...

Jar and Cans and Tins Oh My!

Yes, thats exactly what I am doing. What I used to do is, for example, buy a pound of my fav tobacco. Then open THAT big jar to load a pipe. Then I started buying smaller jars to fill up from my larger ones. That way instead of opening the jar a few times a week, I now open the jar a few...

Jar and Cans and Tins Oh My!

Thanks everyone - sounds like I am doing the right thing by smoking out of smaller jars and only going to the bigger ones when I run out of the smaller ones. Thanks for the Sutfliff tip too. Cheers.

Jar and Cans and Tins Oh My!

Question about longer term storage. There are about 4 or 5 tobaccos that I really love and have been buying in bulk. I store about 1 lbs in 2 liter lockable jars. Then I take a bit and keep it in either a regular mason jar or a Wide Mouth 1/2 Mason jar that way I don't expose to much air to...

    Sutliff in Bulk?

I did exactly that. I leaned the hard way not to keep tobacco too long in a tin and was really surprised to see it dry out. But I love the Sutliff tobaccos so much that they're like gold to me. So I jarred them immediately.  :D

    Sutliff in Bulk?

Wow, I had no idea Marc Baren has purchased Altadis (Sutliff) in May of 2013. I hope they continue to stay pure to their premium brand of Private Label blends. Now more than ever do I want to get as much of this stuff as I can. I have an order of 5 each from smokingpipes.com but I can see...

    Sutliff in Bulk?

Thanks Roth - I love this stuff so much that I just may do that. I think other than Hobbits Weed, these two are the only one's I'd buy by the pound.

    Sutliff in Bulk?

Does anyone know if Sutliff makes either Molto Dulce or Moulin Rogue are made in bulk vs the 1.5 oz can? I sure hope so.

    Matches vs Lighters

Really good point. My wife doesn't mind me smoking a pipe, even in the house but she can't tolerate messy ash trays. The little spent matches adds a bit of clutter.

    Matches vs Lighters

Well, if there is one thing that I've learned so far about matches and thats that they're not all created equally. I have yet to run to the store since posting this to pick up some greens but I have a few boxes laying around from various places I've visited. The long matches from Smokey Joes in...

    Matches vs Lighters

Been using matches since I wrote this post. I must say that I quite enjoy this. I began smoking a pipe to begin with to slow my life down and this does so even further. I also feel like I have more flame control. All I have at the moment are these cheap-o stick matches that seem to break...

    Matches vs Lighters

Anyone here prefer matches over lighters? Tonight I was watching a "how its made" program and they profiled Swedish Match, who makes matches. I was looking to buy a few of their boxes and can't find anyone who sells them. That got me to thinking and researching. I have discovered that there...
