A little dottle never hurt anyone.

Most English blends I can smoke down, but VAs and Vapers I cannot. Those seem to get an ashy taste that collects dry on the back of my palete. I thought orginally it was just the pipe but then it became a such an undesired occurance that I stop once I notice it. Like with cigars, regardless of...

    Virginia or other tobacco?

I smoked cigs for many years stopping several times but successfully about 14 years ago. When I was young I enjoyed cigarettes flavor, but the mess and expense made me want to stop. I restarted when my whole leaf and snuff tendancies led to the discovery of a lump on the inside of my gums then...

    Help a Noobie Out

Nope, Called C&D up I spoke to a woman on the phone and paid w/ my cc. I weighed them when they arrived and they were 1 oz on the dot. You are correct they do not sell 1 oz tins, these were samples packed in ziplock bags w/ lables stuck to them to identify. I was told that due tot the fact the...

    Help a Noobie Out

I have to say that C&D had charged me 38 dollars for 5- 1 ounce samples. These were not bulk but tinned samples. Of course, I was told that they recently updated their prices and it hadn't been changed on the site.  Great samples, not so great price. I was put off to say the least.

Would like to hear comments on what is coming tomorrow

I love the Golden Sliced. The tin aroma is amazing and the smoke is nice and creamy. It isn't a very strong tobacco so if you want a nice smooth smoke this is it. The Dark Twist is nice too. A bit stronger than the Golden, nice spun, sliced rolls. I have the Club Blend too which is almost the...

New pipe smoker and beginners pipe

To be honest I have never bought a new pipe. Of course I am a new smoker as well so I cannot justify the outlay of money for a new pipe. The other thing is I have a very expensive eye, and as I browse new pipes I try not to look at the price but only the style. It seems the more I become...

    Orlik Golden Sliced

Just received this the other day and I am very pleased. Wonderful sweet haylike aroma out of the tin, presentation (100g Tin) is several very long golden brown flakes curled into the tin :D I took a pair of sissors and cut a 2" piece and rubbed it up. The moisture is right on, no real drying...

    Best storage/cellaring tips

Those Platnum Jars aint cheap either, bro! I have several I used to jar up some Peach/Mango Jam I made this summer. They look great but don't stack worth a darn. Too bad becuase the look so nice. I see you have your jars stacked astride each other as opposed to on top of the lid. The standard...

Has anyone tried growing their own tobacco?

I was reading up on it and decided to call and question my buddy whose family raised tobacco on their 100 acre farm in SC until the Govt. buy out. There is a lot of work involved and with Virginias even more as each leaf must be picked individually. Burley can be harvested whole by cutting the...

    Straight Edge Razors

Shavemyface.com is a good resource as well. I just re-entered the world of DE razors and I am very happy. I have a ' 58 Gillette Super-Speed and a Gillette Tech from the early 50s and I have been getting a wonderful shave for a fraction of the cost the new blades give. It was a bit eery at...

Does the pipe really make THAT much difference????

I agree too that the right pipe can make or break the tobacco. I have several that cry out for an English blend, and others the same blends are just ho-hum.

    Broken Pipe: Stephen J. Cannell

I was a big fan of many of his shows. I have watched most of the Rockford files recently on Netflix. Sad News indeed.
