    short bowl

Here's hoping whoever bid on it is looking for a replacement stem. If not, they're getting the short end of the deal :P

    Castello strange drilling

Is it possible that the drilling and the "New Straw Inner Tube" thing are related? It may be by design.

    Help identifying a pipe

I'll let you know how it smokes as soon as I remove enough foul-smelling oxidation off the stem to let this thing anywhere near my nose :P Or, to put it another way: How does it smoke? Like a Goodyear.

    Help identifying a pipe

I just acquired a bulldog on e-bay. There is an equalateral triangle (white outline, not solid) logo on the stem -- it looks like a pyramid. Does anyone know of a manufacturer using this logo? The bowl is stamped: MILE HIGH RED ROCK LONDON MADE I've already checked the usual sites...

    Slight oxidation problem?

Maybe it's just me, but a light-colored stem on that pipe doesn't look half bad. (Okay, so it's the top half, but that's not my point. :P)

    Valuing estate pipes

I just finished purchasing a new (to me) estate from an online retailer. Before clicking on the “proceed to checkout” hyperlink, I asked myself the usual questions: 1. Do I need another pipe? 2. Will the purchase of this pipe enhance my wellbeing? 3. Is the posted price for this item a...

Review - Jar Alternative - Good Grips POP Container

Nice. (Thanks for the post.) And, it's worth mentioning the obvious: they're rectangular and stackable. Looks like a versatile storage solution.

    G&H Balkan Mixture

I'd give this ten enthusiastic thumbs up, but I'd have to take back eight thumbs for its "dish soap" topping or casing. Whatever the source of the annoyance, it lessens after the tin has been open a while but, unfortunately, it just won't go away. (It's present in the bulk as well.) That...

Anyone smoke a Savinelli Clark's Favorite?

szyzk, If all you're looking for is that final "nudge" to get you to pull the trigger... DO IT! I agree with Richard, Savinelli pipes are great smokers. If I remember my Savinelli "shape lore" correctly, the one you're looking at is named in honor of Clark Gable (as Bing's Favorite is named...

Buying and % of tobacco you smoke and put down to age.

Hey Behike54 (Jack), As for aging bulk tobacco, mason jars will do the trick. Cheers, ruta2

    talrmn35

I entered into a transaction with talrmn35. My communication with him was great -- seems like a genuinely nice guy and very much lives up to the spirit of the first "B" in BoB -- and he delivered the agreed-to goodies carefully packaged (hell, it was over-packaged; you've got to love it when...

I agree with MisterE -- it's that time of year.

    brand question

Add one more recommendation for Savinelli. You'll be hard pressed to find a pipe that delivers better bang for the buck -- they're great smokers -- and they're as common as cornflakes. For $100, you'll have a great variety of shapes to choose from. I've got several Savinelli "pots" (shape...

I wouldn't mind getting this dog for Christmas!

Beautiful pipes. The SJ Maxima dwarfs the Peterson 999; what a handful! I must admit I've always found the Peterson Rosslare line very attractive. Looks aside, how does it smoke?

I wouldn't mind getting this dog for Christmas!

I was tempted a while back to start a topic asking members to post pics of their spigot pipes (and army mounts, for that matter) along with comments as to pros and cons and this may be a good time as any. Anyone have a favorite they'd like to share?

I wouldn't mind getting this dog for Christmas!

Don't get me wrong -- the overall effect is stunning. Just struck me that the metalwork plays a huge role in making the pipe "pop."
