    Rossi

I find a 3mm draw to be about perfect. Up to about 3.5mm is fine. After that I find the draw to be too open. I have opened the airway in several of my pipes to 3.2mm (1/8 in.) and they smoke great. As far as the Punto Oro being a 6mm pipe, I would expect they meant that it takes a 6mm filter, as...

    Well, I finally did it!

I agree completely. I have a regular phone with a recorder. That's it. Want me and I'm not there. Leave a message. No cell phone here either. What the hell do I need a cell phone for. I see everyone walking around ( and driving) talking on their little c-phones. Who in hell needs to talk that...

Hilson Champagne Calabash review - video

Great review Charlz. I also have one that I purchased earlier this year. And I know what you mean when you said that you almost didn't want to smoke it because it was so beautiful. I felt exactly the same way. Felt like I was despoiling a pretty little virgin. But what a smoke!

    Carey Magic Inch

I seem to remember Cary pipes having a coating in their bowls. I think they carried pipes made by many different makers, so I wouldn't think it odd to find one that has been pre-carbed.

    Whistling Pipe?

Sounds like the airway needs to be opened slightly.

    2 questions about Airway.

I recently corresponded with Dave Wolf at Walker Briarworks about a gurgling problem with my pipe. I will share with you his response: "Thank you for your email. 95% of the time, gurgling is from a poor airway. The airway from the bowl to the of the shank should be 5/32" in diameter. A good...

    Pipes From Hell

Well, I find that a lot of Virginia tobaccos will smoke hot for me if I'm not careful, and slow my puffing down a bit. I am a puffer, and have to consciously watch myself when I am smoking a Va. belnd. The pipe doesn't really make a difference with me. My technique does. I have many Italian...

    Enlarging Draft Hole

I guess if you're handy enough with a drill, you could do it yourself. I wouldn't attempt it though, but that's me. If you really like the pipe, any pipe repair person could open the airway up easily enough. I have sent pipes away to be opened up because a pipe cleaner wouldn't pass through...

    Pipe Dedication-Burleys and English

I consider myself fortunate in that I can't taste much difference by using aromatics and then english and then maybe a burley mixture in the same pipe. Maybe I don't have a sophisticated enough palate. I smoke them all from the same pipe from time to time, and never worry about the small flavor...

    Pleasure to be here

Hello all, Just joined tonight. I have been smoking a pipe since about 1984, and have quite a few hanging around here. It'll be interesting to see what some of your opinions are, and I hope to share some of mine along the way. Happy smoking.
