Gawith, Hoggarth & Co.: "Bright CR Flake".

The word Lakeland is what perks my interest! CR is delightful and is tied for second favorite GH & Co. tobacco (there's Ennerdale at number one, and most of the rest of their catalog at number two).

    Attack on Tobacco Products

The store you're buying from - unless it's the big boys exclusively - are more than likely paying more, or will be paying more, to stock the tobacco, because that stuff isn't coming via USPS. In most cases that added cost will get passed on to the consumer. Obviously there are exceptions...

    Attack on Tobacco Products

Ah, but it could be a biggie. With FedEx no longer shipping tobacco of any kind UPS has a monopoly. If a manufacturer no longer receives a competitive rate to ship his product because UPS no longer needs to offer a discount, he'll charge the retailer more. If the retailer is charged more...

More on the new FDA regulations.

I'm a tobacconist. I deal with this every day. I wretch every time I hear a government official spew some "statistic" about children abusing pipe tobacco or cigars. It's not happening. Kids aren't curious when it comes to premium tobacco, kids aren't brand aware in regards to this industry, kids...

    What are you smoking?

Having my third bowl today of England-made Capstan. Has to be mid-to-late 80s. Incredibly good.

    michael drue

Despite PayPal taking forever for a payment to clear, I had a very successful partial trade/partial buy with Michael. We stayed in contact throughout and Michael shipped his end immediately. I appreciate the great transaction, Michael!

    JPatrick

He could have been happy with an "A" transaction, but no, he had to go and make it an "A+" by throwing in a bunch of extras. Too cool, too nice, way unexpected. Any packaged labeled "More Ennerdale" is just fantastic, and that's what I received here in trade.

    jeffya2

Yet another perfect transaction with Jeff. Most tobacconists can't get pipe tobacco to my doorstep in two days, but Jeff can. Plus, let's be honest: most of my mail doesn't smell nearly as good as a package laced with Ennerdale.

    Question about St. Bruno tobacco

Keep in mind that I have the palate of a billy goat, but no, I never noticed a difference. I'm far from an expert but have done my fair share of importing due to it - and quite a few others - being lovely blends. The UK OTCs put ours to shame.

    C&D Christas Blend announced

If it helps, Kyle - and I know you were just being snarky - the idea is that they wanted to provide a touch of the "roasting on an open fire" effect in the blend. Time will tell if it works.

    Fishnrust

Very fair arrangement & was generous with extras which was entirely unneeded! Fast shipping, great packing, would be happy to trade with again!

    C&D Christas Blend announced

Just a head's up, guys: Cornell & Diehl will begin shipping "Chestnuts Roasting" on or around November 26th to get their first, limited edition Christmas Blend into stores in December. According to the description it's a light aromatic with a smidge of latakia. 2oz tins are limited to 500 total...

    Park Lane Bengal c/o docwatson

I'll have to try Red Paramour next. I didn't want another tobacco to put on my list, but the ball is already rolling! Glad you enjoyed the cigars! I was hoping they would allow you to catch some of the island flavors you remembered!

    Park Lane Bengal c/o docwatson

I've never had Bengal Slices - this is Park Lane's version! I don't know if it comes close to the original, but it's an excellent tobacco! Lancers Slices is another favorite of mine, but it doesn't have the floral essence that Bengal does. Both are in my regular rotation though!

    Park Lane Bengal c/o docwatson

So, I've had this on my list for a while now. I just never got around to placing an order for it because I wanted to try just a little bit first, and most of my purchases are through P&C since they always have 99% of what I'm looking for. Anyway, I shipped off a few cigars to The Doc and he...

    Where is the spring?

We had a week of 70s with a high today of 83. Previous two weeks were in the 60s. I assume we'll have another snow, but if it doesn't come I won't worry to much.

Thank you for doing the blog, by the way. It's been a fun read!

    Mega Dublin

Wow! I'm a big man and I'd be VERY happy with that big man's pipe! The vertical grain is nice, I think the craggy top is a great fit on such a tall bowl, and the choice of stem material is very fitting.
