    I see an st and then numbers on his pipes. Be sure it is not storient in disguise. I have heard plenty of bad things and experiences about dealing with him a year ago before he went underground.

    Bents - i always had nothing but bents but for some reason and also due to the specific pipe and artist - I have a couple of straight on pipes. a couple of partial bents. But I gravitate to and love those bents.

    One final update: Bowls 35, 36, and 47 started shine. I am over the hurdle and maybe another 10 bowls and it should be a magnificent pipe. The point of this thread was not to bash the pipemaker. That is why I did not mention him by name. but if this pipe was so bad to start and the coating...

    Finally a breakthrough on bowl 24 or 25. Just did 2 bowls this A.M. with a pot of coffee and I finally taste the incredible tobacco - bottom 1/4 a bit sketchy yet - but forward progress is made. This should work out nicely. in 46 years of pipe smoking I have never experienced this situation...
