    Something is rotten in Denmark

Sad news....but, it may not be all that bad. I would think that they probably have quite a few bowls already turned and ready for market. So, whoever takes over will not be starting from scratch and we will probably not see that much of a difference in pipe quality during the transition...

    New guy says hi!

Hello and welcome. You may want to talk with Mark Tinsky on the art of fly fishing while smoking. I'm sure he can give you some pointers on keeping your pipe dry. :) Randy

    A pipe with special meaning.

I have one pipe that has a very special place in my rack. It was a Christmas gift from my Mother. Nothing really special about the pipe itself. It's a Karl Erik bent. Came off of the wall at a local B&M five years ago. It's an OK smoker, but probably because I don't smoke it all that often...

    SERIOUS junk science!

I love these kinds of "scientific" studies. They manage to make every news outlet, but you can never find the actual study and are never able to see just how they tested and what the baseline is for the study. So as my contribution to the scientific world, I have conducted my own study and for...

    How Are Pipes Marked Up?

Yes and no or maybe kinda.... For some of the Artisans, definintely yes, they are getting the best price by selling over the net. For the customer, (if you take out the taxes), not really. If a maker is selling pipes for $400.00 - $500.00 a pipe on the net, that's pretty much the same price...

    How Are Pipes Marked Up?

From what I can recall from working at a shop..Depending on the carver or company selling the pipes to the B&M - the mark-up would vary between 80% and 125%. If the pipes came from a company that machine turned the pipes and produced them in mass, the company making the pipes would get $20.00...

    Tobacco Aging

1792 seems to age very well after a few years. :) Currently, I'm smoking some 965 from 1997. The years have been good to this blend. The different tobaccos have aged well together. It has a very mellow "kick" and is full of flavor. Randy

    Just asking for some prayers...

Adam, I just saw this thread, my prayers will be going out for Ella and the rest of your family. O God of heavenly powers, by the might of your command you drive away from our bodies all sickness and all infirmity: Be present in your goodness with your servant Ella, that her weakness may be...
