I’m currently visiting my parents in Devon and this evening dad showed me his great great grandad’s pocket watch. It’s an amazing timepiece and dad keeps it in a tin that some folks may recognise. Dad recons the tin could be 50 years old!A31D858C-3F3E-414B-A27F-AD38A0CCA414.jpeg

You are incredibly fortunate! I lost my mother 66 years ago in December, my father 56 years ago in May; never had parents past my teens.

Here you go Rande.

This is my 4 x great grandad, William, pictured in his railway guard’s uniform, circa 1840. The pocket watch, which he was awarded for averting an accident in the railway, would be on the chain.

The watch is in a silver case and has fusee movement.

I have two pocket watches. One from my uncle who carried it everyday. Gold on a leather strap. One passed on from my grandfather to my Dad them to me. It id a Hamilton railroad watch from the 1860's. Will post a pic when I figure out how to do it.
