Hey, people on the internet disappear for stints all the time, for a variety of good reasons.

As long as you didn't leave anyone in the lurch on trade/sale business, no apology necessary.

A lot of sudden spam eh? Have you by any chance joined Facebook recently? If so, you'd be lucky if spam ends up being your only problem.

Glad to see you back, Simple Man. Glad you got it worked out, now you can pick up where you left off! 8)

A lot of times posting email addresses in text or submitting them to certain websites will generate spam, but legit phpBB boards are usually not the problem. If you ever comment on blogs, that may be a spam generator, or if you ever submit comments pretty much anywhere with your full email in them, that's not a good idea either. But who knows, it's a jungle out there, could have been from anything. Sometimes there's even statutes of limitation in User License Agreements of how long they won't "sell your information," sometimes as little as two years. A few "reputable" companies even worded their digital contracts so carefully to say, "We promise not to sell or give away our user's or customer's information." If you ever cancelled their service, suddenly you're no longer a "user" or a "customer," and boom, suddenly you're getting Viagra spam from Kenya. Ain't that nice of them?

BoB, from what I can tell, has extensive protection for us and the forum, with CAPTCHA (messy letters you have to type in occasionally) and other ways to prove you're a robot. In fact, because I put "Viagra" I got one just now to confirm I was human! 8)

Good luck, re-welcome back!

"In total there are 69 users online :: 18 Registered, 2 Hidden and 49 Guests :: 2 Bots"

Never put yer email address where the "guests" and "bots" can see em.

Welcome back!

Something I've done for years is maintain 2 email addresses. One is work/personal, & the 2'nd is for registering for various sites, & for shopping & such. The first adress gets no spam, the second is nothing but spam. Works out nicely.

This is a good trick. I have about two dozen email, but use three. Gmail is an excellent alternative mail for "questionable sites," they have a killer spam filter and I end up using it a lot! In fact, it's my BoB email. 8)

Oh, I'm a tricky one, for sure. You gotta watch out for me. 8)

Truthfully, most of them are for failed/mothballed music projects in which contact information needed to be created. I have most of them routed through Gmail, but I doubt I could remember passwords for three-quarters of them. Heh. :)
