Hi guys, I'm finally back. It's been a while since I posted. My employer had this website blocked and like Felix Unger, I was asked to vacate my home. This request came from my wife.
Things are on the upswing though. The city has unblocked my favorite website and at least I'm getting to smoke my pipe when I want and without complaint and insults. So, for those of you who remember me, gird up your loins you are going to have to put up with me again!!!! :lol!: :pipe:
 
Welcome back! They block BoB at school too, for the strangest of reasons, 'Adult Content and Pornographic images'

I guess pictures of pipes must have a phallic connotation :lol!:
 
Most of web content filtering systems work on a master database that has millions of entries. Often they are not very well categorized.

Of course there are always ways around web filters... :lol:

Our web filter said blocked for sexual content. I went to the public library and put in a request to have it unblocke and after they reviewed it they unblocked it. Since the network is the same throughout the city it unblocked my workplace too. Every now and again the good guys win! :cheers:

Without admitting to any type of wasteful time usage at work I'd like to make a recommendation for anyone who has a blocked site in their workplace, school, etc. but would still like to reach theirs brothers in the BoB. This may or may not work but it has worked for me in two different places.

Rather than typing in the URL directly to the URL box - go to Google.com and type in the site. Do NOT type in www.brothersofbriar.com. What I type in is this: brothersofbriar.forumotion.com in the Google search window.

I guess for whatever reason this does not key a block on my work server.

Give it a whirl. Please note that if your company's IT people track web usage and monitor everyone this still might not be a good idea.

You can beat the block by going to ASP Google Groups and post the
www.brothersofbriar.com link.Then bookmark the page you posted it on
and you get in that way. :twisted:

Thanks Aaron. It did suck in a major way but I'm getting better. I find I have more time for things I want to do like read, smoke my pipe, go fishing, smoke my pipe, ride the Harley, smoke my pipe... well you get the idea. Anyway thanks to you and everyone else who has posted, for the kind thoughts. As my friend Jake said in the book Two Wheeled Thunder, "Onward and upward with Crispy Crunchies!" :pipe:
 
Good job guys, on getting the website unblocked from your various locations!

It is AMAZING what people will do when asked.

Glad you took the time to ask the library to remove the block. Most of the time blocks will stay put unless someone asks someone in charge to actually review them, and as the moderator mentioned, the automated blocks tend to flag too much.

Gatlin Burley sounds interesting. I'll have to look it up.

Sorry about you home situation, similar thing happened to me 12 years ago, turned out to be about the best thing to happen in my life.

I'm starting to feel the same way. I have a lot less stress now and like I said earlier, it sure is nice to be able to light the pipe without evil looks and snide remarks. O.M.G. I've even smoked a few cigars. What in the world is gonna become of me? :darklord: :lol!:

Gatlin Burley is available through The Gatlinburlier in Gatlinburg, TN. http://www.gatlinburlier.com/ I love it. My favorite B & M is Smoky's at Montvue Center in Knoxville. They have a website but it isn't finished yet http://www.smokystobacco.com/. If you like Burley (and I do) try their Jim's Sweet Burley. :pipe:
 
It happens to many of us. Like you I didn't know whether to cry or jump for joy. I have pipes now, quality pipes and alot of them. I believe I made the correct decision. Pipes don't bitch and moan...
