Here is a bacote, lucite, and leather tamper I did last night. Let me know what you think?

Looks awesome, all kinds of visual textures going on.. A question, if I may?

Leather? This isn't the first tamper I've seen using leather. But I don't understand the significance. Is it purely decorative?

Just curious........

Although I do like the looks it also serves another purpuse. If my joints are not purfect the leather compresses and helps hide any gaps that otherwise might show up. A bit of cheating I know but every little bit adds to the finished look.

Maybe someday I will manage a purfect butt joint. Untill then I will take all the help I can get. LOL On a side note I blame you Ozark Wizard!!!! Now let me explain. I bought a block of Paruvian walnut on Wednesday and am going to give pipe carving a try! So for good or ill I am going to tell folks it was you that inspired me to try it.
