Hello Brothers of the Briar.

I guess my introduction will start circa 1970 when I was a young boy along the banks of the Greenbrier River in the mountains of West Virginia. Just about all of the men in the family enjoyed tobacco In one way shape or form. Most chewed tobacco such as: Apple Sun Cured Plug, Red Man, Beechnut, and Levi Garrett. A few smoked cigars like El Producto and Muriel. But, my favorite uncle, Uncle Dana smoked a Kaywoodie Standard with Carter Hall. The aroma was intoxicating. My father came from a family of ten children, so family reunions were quite large. The men would break-off from the women and sit in a large circle of lawn chair. Tobacco would come out of every pocket and sometimes be replaced by false teeth. The annual reunions were some of the best times in my life.

Now in 2022 all those strong lanky farmers, railroad men, etc... are just shadows of the past. However, every time I smell that newly opened tin of tobacco or put flame to my briar, it brings me back to the reunions along the Greenbrier River. A much, much, better time in America.
