Collaborative Effort

I have a good friend from Mali who is a talented sculptor, working almost always with ebony. I asked if I would drill the block, fit the stem, and do all the finish work would he carve the pipe. This is what he did . . with a penknife! The picture doesn't do the pipe justice. And it probably won't ever get smoked. He did a total of eight pipes with me, but this is the best. Just thought you might enjoy taking a look at it.

Wow ! I can't imagine doing carving like that on briar with a knife! Even if I had the artistic ability my hands would fall off !
