Well yesterday was pipe club day at the local B&M I don't get there as often as I like to, but I happened to not be doing something so off I went, it was a good morning of showing off some older pipes of years gone by, a nice GBD collection, and Some newer pipes as well these guys seem to be in the Magnum scene, i saw a poker that held 1oz of tobacco looked like a coffee cup with a teapot spout.

Back to the story, on this day I was lucky enough to run into Sammy, the Local Drew Estate Rep, and lo and behold he was toting a few tins with him not yet available at least in my area, but he did give me a good bowls worth of some "meat pie" to try.
I have to say at first taste this had some awesome flavors, I don't know how to describe it other than it had a nice thick &rich flavor , and the Latakia seemed to be perfectly balanced with the sweetness of the VA's, and some of that oriental mystique,
Before I knew it I caught myself trying to draw the flame from my lighter up the draft hole, begging for just one more taste.

When I first read about Drew Estate delving into the world of pipe tobacco, and when I read the name "meat pie" why in the hell would they call it that I wondered, now I get it.

i hope this blend becomes available in my area soon, I know i only had one bowl and my thoughts on this might be premature,
but I cant wait to get a tin to smoke several bowls, and try to prove myself wrong

Great to hear you enjoyed the Meatpie, I am looking forward to trying this blend.

Drew Estate pipe tobacco? Well this is exciting. :D

I must say I'm a bit surpised. I always figured us pipesmokers to be part of a dying breed rather than a growing market. I'm happy to hear that perhaps the good folks at Drew Estate disagree.

For all of those who are into the English blends I finally got my hands on a tin or at least a partial tin of meat pie, it seems i finally hounded, annoyed talked the drew estate rep into leaving me his sample tin, when I stopped at the B&M yesterday it was given to me, I took a couple of pics just to give you all a preview inside the tin

This stuff is being blended by the Scandinavian tobacco group

There are no crazy falvors or aromas like you are used to with the Acid cigars just a delicious medium latakia blend
which kind of reminds me of a stokkabye or mcClellands english blend, but it seems to have a bit more body than either of those
anyways can't wait to hear some others thoughts on this blend

Got a tin a couple of weeks ago, have smoked multiple bowls and have enjoyed them all. If you like the "English Blends" you should give it a try. It is not Squadron Leader, but it is a darn good smoke none the less:lol:

Well, I hate to be the contrarian here but so far I'm not too wild about this stuff. I'm smoking my 2nd bowl right now, and while this is far from being bad tobacco, for me it just doesn't offer the complexity of something like Nightcap. The Lat flavor is definitely very strong, but there is a lack of the interesting undertones that you find in some of Dunhill's English blends or the floral taste you get in Squadron Leader. It is totally possible that I'm missing something that other people are picking up on, but for me there are other English smokes I'd rather be having. That being said, I do intend to smoke the rest of this, and I'd hardly turn it down if someone offered me more.

I picked up a small sample at Park Lane last week and have to agree with sentientchimp. It's a little too bland for my tastes. It smokes and burns well, I would say it very similar to Sasieni, with perhaps a bit more flavor and Latakia?

I am not a big fan of the Drew Estate cigars, and I thought that their pipe tobacco might be the same, but if Meat Pie is as good as you say I might just have to pick up a tin.

Not a fan of Drew Estate? Have you not tried the Liga Privada?

I've heard good things about Meat Pie; those friends who enjoy English blends who have smoked this Meat Pie like it.

I am, however, disappointed that of the Drew Estate blends in what is said to be their initial release as they enter the pipe tobacco foray, Meat Pipe is the only non-aromatic blend of the bunch.

Drew Estate, in their advance promotion, did have two non-aromatics in this new line, but removed the only other non-aro (I forget the name, but a virginia blend IIRC) before release.

Well they were supposed to release A Straight Va called Gilded reserve I think, but the word I heard was some one is releasing a cigar with the same name so their is a hold up on it's release

To me the effective range of an excuse is zero meters.

In fact, I, for one, was looking forward to ONE blend from Jonathan Drew, the ONE blend they didn't release.

Oh well.

Hello. Hope all are well. First, why is there a shortage of Meat Pie when it was a plenty some time back, and secondly, does anyone know where to get a tin or know of someone who has a spare tin to sell? I can't find the sell or trade section here on this site for the love of Judas!! Thanks & Best, Piedpiper62
