Any one read any?
Another good recommendation, that one is on my night stand at the moment ($10 from Amazon, via Goodwill). I see in the link, there is a "Good" $8 copy available. Can't beat that!Dutch":wlzq2yet said:Great book on the history of pipe smoking.....

Have you read this one? I saw it on amazon but the reviews made it look like it was not much more than a polemic for the wonders of tobacco.shootist51":5nqdfi2r said:Tobacco: A Cultural History of How an Exotic Plant Seduced Civilization by Ian Gately, available from Amazon and possibly your local public library.
Ehwas book pretty extensively covers tobacco (haven't read it yet, but flipped thru). The Dunhill book is mostly a history of pipes, but has some historical tobacco information as well. For less than $10, it's hard to pass up the Dunhill (My copy of Ewhas book was less than $15 delivered, also a deal.jdkonzem":2w7acaj7 said:Have you read thone? I don't so much want a book on the history of pipe smoking or pipe tobacco but tobacco in general. A thorough book should include this topic but I don't want it to be that exclusively.
I bought this book, but haven't read it yet.jdkonzem":c8kqeins said:Tobacco: A Cultural History of How an Exotic Plant Seduced Civilization by Ian Gately
