Hey Guys,

Old friend Dock here. As my facebook buddies already know, I've officially returned to smoking! A pipe you ask? Nope. I've discovered, or redisovered as it were, premium cigars.

Recently I attended a flea market out here and found a HUGE Cohiba humidor LOADED with a vast array of premium stogies. There's literaly a hundred plus, plus Cohibas, Fuete X, Upmanns and waaay more. The fella selling them was gifted them by the wife of his late neighbor. He gave me the whole lot, 7 drawer teak and glass humidor included for sixty bills!

My questions are this, what's the best cutter on the market for the money? Also, some of the Fuentes I have are in the perfecto shape. (The one sorta torpedo shaped with the pinched end) This shape seems to be pretty rare. What are some great curently made perfectos that are available? Any recommendations?

Also, it appears that I'll be starting a local pipe/cigar club here in Western Mass. We've got a KILLER venue. Don't know if there are any local guys here (Springfield Mass) now but I'll post details soon...

Thanks in advance....

Xikar seems to be a great cutter, I have six of them scattered through the house, car and office. I also have a Dupont that is very nice but does not do it any better than the Xikar. I use a 9MM punch as mush as possible, flavor gets directed better.

Punch them if you can!!!!!!!

Holy Smokes! Great to see you pop in.
I still love cigars, but they are expensive.
My stash turned into a life-time supply
when I started smoking pipes. ;)

Xikar... hands down. I have two I've been using for years. Plus the warranty is amazing. They have some very affordable models as well.

a. palio = best cutters, but credo makes a good cheap set

They make a high quality "cheap" double guillotine
called the "Mean Sardine." I also have this nice one
my daughter gave me for Christmas a few years ago.

I have purchased a variety of different punches, scissors, guillotines, slices, 2 fingers, and v-cutters. Hands down I like the cheap plastic ones I can pick up for around $2. Reason being, is they are more effective and do less damage to my cigars than the higher priced ones. The only exception is if I am cutting a torpedo, perfecto, or figurado shape. Those cigars can be a tough customer to cut, and sometimes the leverage created can break a cheap plastic cutter, so I usually reach for my heavy Xikar when cutting those.

While I am not crazy about Gurkha cigars in general, I do like their Master Select in the Perfecto shape.
