In my case, I was TOLD by the founder and president, John "tiltj", that I was a member. :p
I've seen him tell other guys that anyone who regularly smokes a cob may attach the banner to their signature.

I also hail from the Socialist state of WA. I'm in the Cascade foothills due east from Seattle. Where are you?

And welcome to the forum.

Cheers,

RR

Hey Brew,

I am so sorry, It sucks to be a committed smoker in this part of the world. I visit your area often, beautiful out there.

Anyway, I am in Burien by Seahurst park... and thank you for the welcome.

BTW, do you belong to SPC?

Yes indeed I do. Great group. Are you?

Nope... I keep thinkin I need to run out there but never seem to get it done. Last time I thought about it is cause I wanted to snag one of those cool clay pipes they hand out at the annual dinner... but I missed the 10 year when it was emblazoned with the big X, those were cool. Oh well...

But ya know, I bet there are way better reasons to be there, yes?

Yes of course. Problem for me is the monthly meetings in Fife are a relatively long drive, and I'm an early to bed/early to rise kind of guy with my work schedule. So since re-joining two years ago I have yet to make a meeting!

I was a member for a few years going back to around '01 and attended many meetings at that time back when we met at the long defunct and much loved TB in Issy. Lots of great guys and plenty of good vibes. When I stopped piping for 8-10 yrs or so I let my membership lapse.

Thinking of going to the annual picnic coming up in Aug though. It's on a Sat afternoon, but I frequently have to work weekends during the summer so I'll have to play that one by ear.

I'd encourage you to join up. Annual dues are only $25 so it's not like a deal breaker.

Anyhow hope to meet up with you sometime. Shoot me a pm if you're ever out my way. I'm the Head Brewer at Snoqualmie Falls Brewing, and we can always smoke on the loading dock. Here's the brewery website-

I remember that place. found it about a month before I transferred to Portland for 7 years. It was a late afternoon and they were having a meeting that night and a few were already there. They invited me to stay but I couldn't, at the time I didn't know what it was.

It did seem like a cool place and they talked me into a pipe and more than a few oz. of tobacco. One of the guys actually loaded my new pipe with a bowl of Presby from his freshly purchased tin which, at the time, raised the bar of my perception of fine tobacco from the likes BLWB and 1Q... it was powerful stuff... it was an odd drive home that I still remember vividly. :bounce:
It was the beginning of the journey down the path of a multitude of fine tinned tobaccos... And Presby is still my #1

I get out there a few times a month and I will try and find the time for a smoke.

Thanks Brew!

Scott
