I've lately been lighting up with wood matches more often and have about depleted my supply of freebies from all the B&M's I've visited. I've been using the Diamond brand matches as well. Problem is the Diamond's are shorter and the quality is terrible, I've had entire boxes without enough stuff on the end to light it.
So does anyone know where I can get a continual supply of good matches, like the kind B&M's give out with a purchase? I'm guessing these are cigar matches but work very well when lighting my pipe, they are a bit longer than the Diamonds and the igniting end seems to be made of something different, the quality is much better.
I can't seem to find anything in my Google searches.

I'm with you on this one. I started using Diamonds because I remember them from my youth when they were strike anywhere and you could start a major conflagration with one match. Now they are mediocre at best. Wish I could help but I'm looking for an answer too.

Swan Vestas are still made, but no longer imported for the same reason USA-made matches are garbage: Lawyers and liability. It seems if you make matches that actually work, your next stop is in civil court.

Even traveling to England to buy SV's on the ground is no good because they won't let you take 'em back on the plane.

I envision a Matrix-like "Mass Womb" of nutrient pods as Humanity's future, where all risk is eliminated. You're never leave it from birth to death, and never wake up. Just sleep the entire time in complete safety. The Perfect Life at last.

You can thank Trial Lawyers for the Diamond Match problem..

Bic makes a product that is kinda like a reusable match.. You strike the end on your finger and fire spews forth...

Thank God for the government! They are building a better future for us. What would we do if we had to fend for ourselves?

Yeah, but that solution doesn't create piles of dead matches in ashtrays, require two hands, or spit sparks like a tiny Roman candle when igniting. Not to mention that little fizzy-woosh sound.

mmmaybe I'll just go ask the guy at the local B&M if he'll sell me a batch of his.

I haven't looked in a couple of years, but small town grocery stores around here had the Diamond Strike-Anywhere in the packs of pocket and kitchen matches. I'll have to check the next time we go to the country.

Just googled "strike anywhere" and they are available online.
Except they aren't. I buy 'em by the case because they're the best of the bad---the only ones that light at all---but the "strike anywhere" tag is total BS.

I use "Best Choice" stick matches. BC is a store-brand....They make lots of lower-cost items for grocery stores. The BC matches tend to "strike" better than the Diamonds and stay lit better. I always collect lots of stick matches when I'm in any B&M store. I also have a bunch of long cigar matches I will use to light my pipe. FTRPLT

A 1000 pack of toothpicks, a pint of phosphorus sulfide, and potassium chloride...

Wallaaaaa!

I don't know if this is actually a law but my local B&M up here in Canadia says that he can no longer give matches away and has to charge for matches...even crummy Benson and Hedges neverlights!

I tend to use the old Redbird Kitchen matches as they seem the most reliable and stay lit longer...kinda like training wheels for us beginners.

Well, have you noticed that it is virtually impossible to find the "strike anywhere" matches that we all use to be fond of. Mmmmmmmm.........It seems that they have been banned in most if not all states. What's next, any kind of flame device! Damned socialists!!!

:lol!:

Oh by the way, Swans are good even if they are strike on the box.

I can get all the diamond matches I want at the grocery store.

Here is the new "modern" version.

You wouldnt believe it, I found the genuine strike anywhere matches at a hippie whole foods shop(that displayed Obama posters during the election) within a block of work. The kitchen size in a three pack for $3.50, I bought three packs(just in case).
