My youngest kitteh, Poncho, died this morning. I found him curled up in the clothes hamper in the bathroom this morning,a place he liked to snooze in . He was a feral kitteh I tamed this past year and had just celebrated his first b'day this June. He'd been off his feed and was having problems urinating and wasn't drinking more and more this past week. I just got back from the vet and she feels he had some sort of kidney problems and died from renal failure.
He was a very sweet, laid back natured boy, sitting on my lap when I was at the 'puter and most mornings while I ate breakfast. He had bonded with my youngest female as if they were littermates, licking and grooming each other and sleeping curled around each other even though they were not from the same litter or mom and dad. She was 3 years older but you'd not have known from their affection for each other. He was the first male I've had in over 7 years and I'm gonna miss him dearly/ We only had a little over a year together but he was very special. Now it's just me and my 3 girls. I'm gonna bury him back in my mother's backyard where he was born. Guess you could say that he's gone home.
Here's a pic I took of him when he was out back and I was taming him. He's about 5 months old here. It's the only pic I have, Gonna miss you Poncho.

Condolences to you Sir, it is always sad when one of our furry children passes.

He was so much like Oreo here, it's freaky. Same narrow head, close-set eyes, huge fluffy tail and seemingly not a guard hair on his body -- all soft & fluffy undercoat. Only he was all black & Oreo's black & white.

They look like some kind of evolutionary throwback.

What a shame.

:( Sorry to hear that, Mon. He had the best life he could have when it was time to go, obviously. Good on you for doing what most wouldn't.

I am very, very sorry for your loss. You were wonderful to him and for him while you had him. Thank you for that.

A little, furry light's gone out in your home.

But there's a new star in the sky . . . :D

Michael,

I'm so sorry for your loss. As a lover of cats I am well acquainted with the grief you feel.:(  It's never easy to loose a loved member of the family. His life was so much for the better because of you, your love, and care. I believe he knew that and rewarded you with love in gratitude.

Michael I feel for your loss. Sounds like Poncho had a great life with you and I can see you're going to miss him dearly.

I myself just lost my female pixie-bob  a little while ago after 13 years together. She never ailed a thing in her life but went into renal failure and I had to do the last kindness. I miss her to this day and will for a long time.

May your 3 girl kitties bring you comfort in this tough time.

:(

Cheers,

RR
