I saw him in Memphis in the 70's in a bar...Prolly was 100 or so folks there. It was a good time. I rested my beer on stage and listened.

It's great to see there are other John Prine fans on the board.

Two of my favorite out of the ordinaries --

"You are what you are and you ain't what you ain't."
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/-mlHDsXfMeI" frameborder="0" loading="lazy" allowfullscreen></iframe>

"And, oh, what a feeling, when my soul went through the ceiling
and on up into heaven I did rise."
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/_2mOkFwmfsk" frameborder="0" loading="lazy" allowfullscreen></iframe>

And one of favorite all time songs-

"I'll be halfway to Heaven with Paradise waitin'
just five miles away from wherever I am."

Just wanted to add my name to the list of fans,.....I'd be hard pressed to pick a favorite tune or even a favority album. Hello in There and Sam Stone come to mind as two of my many favorites, though.

Just saw him live last month; great show!

Billy the Bum lived by the thumb, sang of the hobo's delight;
Proved he could run twice as fast as the sun by losing his shadow at night.

And the sky is dark and still now
On the hill where the angels sing
Ain't it funny how an old broken bottle
Looks just like a diamond ring ?
IMHO, THE greatest.

Billy the Bum lived by the thumb, sang of the hobo's delight.
He proved he could run twice as fast as the sun by losin' his shadow at night.
Now he loved every girl in this curly-headed world, but no one will know it seems,
For two cripped legs and a childhood disease left Billy just a bum in his dreams.

Thanks, John.
