At P&C - Balkan Sobranie 759

Has anyone tried this blend? They don't ship to WA state or I'd give it a shot, also I really enjoy Peretti's Royal Blend which is sort of close to the real deal but is very good in its own right imo.

I got an e-mail about that as well. Would be interesting to see how close they came to 759. Having been a 759 smoker for over 30 years , most of the re-iterations of it are based on what the blend aged to after 30 years or so. Royal Blend is the ONLY blend I've had which matches what 759 was like "fresh" back in the day as I used to smoke it !! Most folks smoked "fresh" non-aged 'baccy back in the '60s early '70s so it would be interesting if they got what it tasted like back then, not a match for "aged" 759!! Royal Blend IMHO, has captured that "fresh" aspect of 759 so well that at times I'd swear i was smoking 'baccy from a black/gold tin !! I might get a couple of ozs to see how they've done !!

I got the same email. It reminded me that P&C was sending me about two emails a day about random things, and I should unsubscribe. Heh.

Hope the 759 is spot-on.

They're duplicating their own duplicates.

I had the originals back in the '70s. Wasn't that impressed, apparently, as I only remember buying it once or twice. Virginia #10 with cigar leaf was more my thing. Or Bengal Slices. Or Craven Mixture. So 759 was the one in the black can?

The "Virgina Memory #10" was okay. Not rocket-ship-to-the-moon-good. But okay.

The 759 chasing is entertaining futility for some, I guess. Whatever floats their boat.

My sentiments exactly, although Russ has always insisted that Black House and White Knight are inspired by the Sobranie's rather than blended to match them.

Anyway, the P&C marketing machine continues to churn...
