I'm really aching to get my first smokable meerschaum. I've seen several that I'm considering and I love the idea of it colouring over time. I think they look beautiful.
Now, the question is, do I need to continue to wax my meerschaum pipe as time goes on? I know they're usually coated with beeswax to help protect and aid in colouring, but do I need to re-coat the pipe to ensure that it stays protected and continues to colour well? If so, where can I get the "right" stuff, short of raiding a bee's nest?
