Hi folks,
New to this board, I live in SW Ontario, Canada and there is no tobacconist worthy of the name within an hours drive. And the restrictive laws of Canada prohibit Canadian tobacconists from filling orders through the mails, lest some "minor" get their hands on tobacco. And our tax laws give use prices on a 2 ounce tin of tobacco comparable to your cost for a pound of bulk tobacco in the States.
While I would like to say I "collect" pipes, that would imply a sense of organization that my accumulation doesn't have. My regular rotation runs the gamut from Dunhills, Saseni, Peterson, GBD, Savinelli, through the obligatory Brighams, to Amphoras. All but one of my pipes have had previous owners, and I am always on the hunt for more. Just this weekend I added a 1969 Dunhill Shell #249.
I also post to the following groups:

http://forum.pipes.org
http://pipes.forumeiro.org/forum.htm (a new & small forum, where I am a moderator)
and the overwhelming: http://www.smokersforums.co.uk/
I started out smoking tobaccos like Captain Black and still smoke the occasion aromatic, but am slowly exploring the glories of "better" tobaccos a few of my favourites are listed in my profile, but I am tending toward VA/Lat/Oriental mixtures so far.
I love to read, and most of my reading tends to be history (especially about WWII) and science fiction, and have an accumulation of SF that dates back through the '60's. [ some constant reads authors: Heinlein, W.E.B. Griffin, Dave Weber, Stephen Ambrose, L. M. Bujold, etc.]
Smoking Highland Targe in my "new" Dunhill,
Al
