Camels are perhaps the most unexpected of inhabitants of Australia’s modern deserts. On a continent otherwise dominated by marsupials, reptiles, and cattle stations the size of small countries, these giant nomads seem both alien yet perfectly adapted to the vast desert scrubland they now call home. Their presence isn’t without controversy, but a growing group of outdoorsmen are pursuing these animals in their new habitat and reaping the rewards of their delectable meat. full article below. "Warning" it pictures a dead camel and yummmy steaks  I couldn't do it, it would be like shooting a horse but they still cull them as well over here unfortunately.

They are also regularly sold back to the Arab states as their genetics make for good racing camels apparently and are good eating.

Live exports

Live camels are occasionally exported to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Brunei, and Malaysia, where disease-free wild camels are prized as a delicacy. Australia's camels are also exported as breeding stock for Arab camel racing stables, and for use in tourist venues in places such as the United States.[60]
