How lucky can one be?!! Just now found a glass jar filled with 8oz of Penzance which I've received on the 1st of May 2011. I forgot about it because it was hidden behind some jars filled with snuff.

I only started smoking latakia blends again about 2 weeks ago after I've been off for more than a year. And now I have some older Penzance to enjoy.  :cheers: 
 
Good for you. I tried all year to get some and bought a 2 oz tin and a 1/2 lb. sorry to say i was so let down by it I threw most the of the 2 oz tin away after trying 3 bowls and the 1/2 lb may go the same route. I was deeply disappointed. tin note - terrible - figgy. smokes smooth and was Ok for smell and taste but i do not see what the hype is about.

I know I will get a bunch of comments on this but seriously it was a letdown and a waste of hard earned $.

seems like it will ghost a pipe rather badly too.
 
so you throw tobacco away that you think is just ok? what does it have to be to keep? good? great? out standing?

Why would any one throw any tobacco away? especially one that everyone is always trying to get their hands on? one that people get way more than they paid for on Ebay? one that someone could definitely get their money back out of either as a cash sale or a trade for a tobacco they know they like

yikes... Never throw tobacco away. Hang onto it and try it again later. Send it to someone who likes the stuff. I can smoke most things, and so things that are reasonably close to something I might like I will buy a pound. Sometimes it is a 2.5 star (our of 4) blend, but that is OK with me. I'll smoke it up. If it just does not work for me, I can always find someone who wants it here in BoB. I redistributed some Amphora Red match and some mystery aro not too long ago.

Belonging to our little group here I would never throw tobac out unless it was dried out to dust and unconsumable by anyone. You can always send it to a member that enjoys it, specially hard to get blends such as Esoterica's. The receiving member will always be glad to pay for shipping if you find yourself tight on funds and most likely send you something you will enjoy in return if they have something they feel you like. Most will do this without asking or without expecting anything in return.
 
My experience with penzance is that ageing does not do any good. I prefer it fresh. I had the same experience with bengal slices. On the other hand , Margate aged wonderfully wich makes me think if this is related to the flake condition. Others flakes that i tried aged fine but they where vapers. Someone had the same experience with latakia flakes?

Sorry it is not to your taste Buddy, why not try putting it up for trade, maybe you can get some Gaslight in trade for it, worth a try, lots of folk really love it so I reckon you could stand a good chance with a trade.  :sunny:

I've loaded a MM Great Dane with this tobacco and I'm sipping away at it as I'm typing. It's soft, like a well aged whiskey or brandy, and, oh so tasty. When I run a bit of smoke through my nose, the aroma is sweet and flowery, nothing like any other latakia I've smoked before. I will try and stretch this jar of baccy far as long as I can.

I'm really sorry that it was not what you were looking for. Why don't you jar what's left and hide it like I did. You might be pleasantly surprised after a year or three. Or, better still, tell me how much you want for it and we can do a deal?!!

I gave a member 1 1/2 lbs of a tobacco for free 1 time and paid for shipping and never even got a thank you.

I tried to sell some abingdon here at the cheapest price available and i had people give me static.

I thought about giving it to a person here who i thought would like it but after a nasty post aimed at me - I said freak it.

so now you see why it is better and cheaper to toss it than to try to get something worked out for people that are less than gentlemanly and fair-minded about a transaction. I do not do ebay and i am not into scamming anyone on price to get rich - i was just looking for some compensation.

But -But...

I will see you brothers on the flip side. Just been there and done that!

I'm serious when I say we can do a deal. PM me how much you want for the tobacco and how I can pay you and you've gat a deal. Penzance is good for me and I would love to have some more.
 
Sadly there are some (more then we wish to think) who do not appreciate, please don't let these influence your thoughts of the rest of the forum members, there are good people here.
I have given many things away on all sorts of forums and more times then I'd like to say I have not gotten a "thank you" or even "I got it". Sadly, Once you get to know a few of us around here you'll know who and who not to expect appreciation from.

Gutted you feel that way Buddy, my reply was not a 'dumping on you', I was concerned for you and really did think doing a trade could work for you, all the very best to you, sorry you feel you put out.
 
Don't sweat it Kirk , Some people just love to be miserable, hopefully Christmas will cheer him up
 
It's the time of year Harry, worries me it does, I've lost a lot of mates over the years at Christmas, LB is usually a really stand up guy, I'm worried about him and the last thing I want is for him to feel any strain from us here on BoB.
 
I don't get it . If you refer to me (lb) , i have no reason to feel any strain. I just gave my opinion about aged penzance.

Sorry Bud, not you mate, LB as in longbottom, darn abbreviations are always getting me in trouble.  :oops: 
 
I'll just say that in the past I have had a handful of items up on the trade board without so much as a peep. It's important not to take offense to this. The Market dictates what folks want here and it is what it is. LB, I thought your prices for the Abington tins were excellent. I would have been all over it if I wasn't knee deep in holiday expenses for the kiddies.

Obviously throwing tobacco out is universally frowned upon here, but it's yours, you bought it and you can do what you want with it.

Giving someone on this board a pound and a half of baccy without so much as a "hey thanks?" Now that's not cool, and in my humble opinion far worse than throwing tobacco away.

There are a lot of good people here and a few bad eggs, sometimes even the real good guys here have a bad day.
