I have about 16 oz of perique that I use in blending (I like it and I'm in Louisiana). It adds an interesting flavor that seems to change according to what type of tobacco I blend it with.
 
Thanks for the links, guys. I had read the Percy Martin article before, but it was very interesting to read about Mark Ryan's efforts to advance the production and processing of perique. Reading some of the side articles (with insights from Sykes Williford and Russ Oulette) was also very interesting.

Indeed. A really interesting (and delicious) part of American tobacco history. A fascinating story!
