Pipe By Lee history

Hello,

I just received a Pipe By Lee Limited Edition (3*). It's a smooth bent rhodesian and I had my 1st bowl out of it last night. I think it's a great pipe and I was pleased with how it smoked. I tried to find some info on the maker/company on the 'net but I'm coming up pretty short.

Anyone familiar with them? I know their pipes were rated by a star system (4*=best) and I think they were pretty prevalent in the 50's.
