I was at the local pipe club one night when I pulled out a Marlboro Red and began smoking. Man, what a commotion that started! It was interesting to see that some members were cigarette smokers; whereas, other pipe smokers abhored the idea.

I would like to take a poll: Are you a cigarette smoker? If so which brand(s)?

I will cast the first vote: YES, Marlboro Reds and Model (House of Windsor).

No ... can't even stand the smell of burning cigarettes. Or more accurately ... chemically engineered, nicotine delivery devices.

Pipes and cigars only for me.

No to Cigarettes, too much of a health nut for inhaling, also here in Fun City at about $15 a pack (and I am not talking Dunhill) that is real money going up in smoke. Cigars just can’t take the smell or taste, if I get downwind of one I get queasy and I love English blends, go figure. Just 1-2 bowls a day for me.

I smoke the odd roll-up cigarette, mostly when I have a stressful situation that I know will have very short breaks.

I have a small supply of Daughters & Ryan shag (back when they still made cigarette tobac) jarred up for that purpose.

Commercial cigarettes are not for me, though.

Pipes and cigars here too.

My local tobacconist allows cigarette smoking in his shop, and hopes to pique their interest in pipe tobacco and cigars.

Cigars and Pipes for me only. Funny, though, wife and I were on a cruise and in the casino they allowed cigarette smoking, but no pipe or cigar smoke (go figure).

Smoked cigs for over a decade and quit about 5 years ago. Now, even the smell of a cigarette from a passing car seems noxious. Go figure.

Never have never will. Pipes only. Tried a shared Castro Cuban cigar once. Very illegal! And good.

:D !

quit Pall Mall reds over 40 years ago--smoked 'em in the service cause a pipe was bulky in the uniform

Man, you nailed it.

Cigarette tobacco isn't really tobacco. It's tobacco in the same way Velveeta is cheese. It's a product "derived" from tobacco, but not tobacco. Some tell me American Spirits are natural, but anyhoo. I'm a tobacco smoker, not a cigarette smoker.

Not for the last 11,914 days, but who's counting?
I love to smoke, but I don't miss cigarettes.
Around 1000 days for me, used to swear by them, but they can't hold a candle to the pipe :)

Sadly, yes I do smoke cigarettes. My consumption has seriously declined since taking up the pipe. I used to be a pack a day smoker but a pack now generally lasts me 3 days.

No, those things will kill you! Just an opinion, (based on experience) but I honestly believe that most of the tobacco related health issues arise from cigarettes. Granted, there is an inherent risk simply using tobacco, but my intent is to enjoy it over a long hopefully healthy lifespan. However, in the grand scheme of things, to each his own.

Respectfully,
