Another "food for thought" topic though this one is potentially scary. With the recent flooding of the Mississippi River could this years perique yields be worse than say an average year? I don't know what time of the year tobacco is planted or harvested, but even if the land was fallow right now couldn't the silt from the river change the soil makeup? Granted silt is usually rich from my limited understanding but even then a ph change of the soil could change the character of the leaf or worse yet detrimentally effect the crop yield. I know I'm jumping the gun here but it's just a random scare that popped into my mind. Anyone who is perhaps more learned in such areas care to pitch in? And finally is everyone stocked up on their VaPers to soldier through the storm?
