In the late 50's and early 60's I remember attending dirt-track jalopy races in the small town of Ord Nebraska where I lived. Back then it wasn't any kind of a vintage thing, or using purpose-built "new" jalopys, they were the real deal built from old cars nobody would dream of risking on a racetrack today. Crashes galore. I have fond memories of it.

I've searched Amazon for DVD's of those old races but couldn't find any - just films of the modern take-offs of the old races.

Does anybody know a source to buy old films on DVD of the real thing?

In the '70's, dirt track racing in Alabama contributed to Nascar being formed. Maybe not quite "jalopies" but the Nascar association is bound to have footage from the early days.
