Good evening from sunny Wales. I hope everyone is well.

Amongst my recent acquisitions, I've picked up a number of estate pipes in need of cleaning up, and I'd like to do it myself. I've always done this with fishing tackle since I was young, because tinkering like this is something I find therapeutic and enjoyable.

Is anyone able to point me to a half-decent how-to guide so that I can start picking up the necessary tools etc? I'll then start potching when I'm off work.

Thanks,
AG

Check out Steves site mate it is a great resource. It gave me confidence to restore a lot of pipes that I would have been too scared to give a go before reading heaps of his renos.
He goes into detail on what sandpaper grit, dye pen colours, glues, tools and a lot more.

Excellent. Cheers for that, mate.

I'll second Reborn Pipes as well. Got a lot of knowledge from there when I started cleaning up estates.

Some of my most smoked pipes are my restored ones. I love getting a good deal on a cruddy looking thing that after a few hours elbow grease comes up looking almost brand new. Warms my inner Scot.
