This is a short "review" of my newest NEW pipe I just got. Sav bashers please don't bother to read or respond
The track star in the big brown truck got here a little after noon today and my NEW Savinelli has come home !!! It now is btwn my teeth as I type with a BIG full bowl of FM 2000 burning it's way to the bottom !! It's a nice full grp5 size Pot with a nice thin med/wide vulcanite fishtail and clenches easily!! the tobacco chamber is a full inch across and 1 1/8th inch deep !! PERFECT for flakes from my experience !! It's not one of Savinelli's "filter" style pipes and the drilling is dead on to the bottom of the bowl but every Savinelli I have is that way !! I took a magnifying glass and looked it ALL over and could NOT find ANY indication of a fill or pit ANYWHERE on the pipe !!! The sterling band is a solid plain one that is fitted seamlessly btwn stem and the nicely cut tapered vulcanite fishtailed bit!! The finish on the blast is a dark, dark red brown not as black as the photo makes it look! More like an older Patent Shell Dunhill from the '50's/'60's Speaking of the blast it's very similar to the Dunnie I mentioned in fact I have a Patent Shell Apple w/factory installed sterling band that I got from my friend Robert this past year after he died and if this pipe had a white dot on the stem and wasn't stamped Savinelli on the band you'd think it was one of those older Shells !! I've ALWAYS LIKED Savinelli's pipes but this series is REALLY IMPRESSIVE particularly as I paid LESS than $100.00 for it !! So far, this pipe is as impressive as my Growley Pot and this one's a production made pipe !!
I just finished it's first bowl of FM 2000 and it was not the same as a well smoked with some cake 40 yo pipe but it did smoke easily and smoothly and I'm sure this will continue with more smokes !! I like to smoke FM 2000 as a "break-in" baccy as I like how it builds cake easily and adds the sweetness I like in my smokes  I'll smoke it in this one for a month before I change to another blend in it as I feel it takes at least a month of steady smoking to get a new pipe ready for other flavors! Here's a pic of it for those that need some pipe porn on the web
