Good day, brothers!!!

As of about 10 minutes ago, I became the owner of a very curious little pipe called a Derfields "Green" Pipe. It is in mint condition and comes in its original box. The seller had no info on it, and, as he was offering it for less than $10, I scooped it up. It is a beautiful pipe, and the manufacturers brochure with it says the deep green hue of the briar is the result of a unique process, and thats all it says. I did a quick Google search and it turned up nil. Does anyone in the community have ANY kind of info on this singular little acquisition of mine?

It seems there might have been a retailer in the "Burlington Arcade" named: Derfield. Sort of a gentleman's shop that sold different personal items. I found several pipes online that were listed as"Derfield, Buirlington Arcade" and also a hip flask, etc.

Here's an example...read the description:

The address of the shop is given as 48 Burlington Arcade...in London.

There was another notation on Christian Pipe Smokers by a guy that was restoring the rim of a Bulldog that the green you were talking about.

Lastly, I think they were selling in the $25 range, but that might have been another model of pipe...but made by or for the Derfield place.

I would guess that the above being the case that the pipes were made by an outside outfit, stamped with the store's name and sold there, which is the same practice used for lots of B&M's stateside.

That's all I could come up with.

A Random Note

I ve once wandered through this arcade in London, it did seem to have a lot of "Gentlemanly" type shops. Shops with Leather flasks and cigar cases things like that as I rember it didn't seem to be outrageously expensive. I almost bought a flask there. Now I wish I would have.

There used to be many interesting shops in Burlington Arcade including three tobacconists - Sullivan Powell, Simmonds, and a small Dunhill branch. Needless to say they are all long gone as are most of the interesting shops.

Its all just pretty up-market "stuff" these days.

Sad but true
