SG St. James Flake

I know there was a thread awhile back about howthe recent shipment of St. James Flake was funk.
I've had several boxes of FVF and St. James sitting around for a week or so, not having time to jar them.
Like others have said, the FVF is fine, but SHEESH. The St. James is FUNK! Its not bad persay, but sooo different than it has been in the past. The flakes are extremely dark, no doubt due to the addition of Latakia.

Did anyone ever figure out what the deal is?
