Any one know of a good website to buy shaving soaps and cologne? I've looked at Just for Him, and their selection isn't exactly gigantic. Open too all suggestions for soaps and colognes at the moment also. I typically use Stetson or English Leather, just looking for something new. For shaving soaps, I need anyone. I have my Gramps boar hair brush, and bowl, but could only find walmart brand shaving soap...
Anything?

I use the "Art of Shaving" preshave oil, soap, and aftershave. Lovely masculine smell. Quality product.

For Christmas this year I got some handmade shaving soap from my parents' neighbor. She raises goats and uses the goats milk to make all sorts of products.

Looks like Zach's falling down another rabbit hole of acquisition disorder!

Kaplan, the only disorder I have is, "Born in the Wrong Generation Disorder" . I haven't a clue why, but I'm attracted to old things. The whole idea of living back when my Gramps did, gives me goosebumps; the stuff that they used... the way that they acted. Which I was why I love this forum. It's not just about Pipes There's tons more.
And I love antique shops... Old stuff is awesome. I see so much potential in it, and alot of the time, the older things work better than the new. :p

I agree Zak, would of been cool living in a simpler time but wonder how we'd make out being as spoiled as we are now living a techno world were everything is so easy to come by.
Shaving soap. I've been using the Williams Mug Shaving soap for 25 years can usually pick it up at Walmart & drug stores for .99 cents when it's on sale i clear the shelf. Hot Hot water & a good lather & it works as good as any of the expensive stuff i've got as gifts.

If you're looking for recommendation.

Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat. Tabac. Golds Dachs. Razor rock,

Creams : Taylor of old bond street. Proraso.

That decision is more about your water than your preference. If you have hard water producing good lather on most soaps is either unobtanium or such a PITA its not worth it.

Regarding Williams. Williams is the Carter Hall of shave soap. It's far from the best but it's probably just as far from the worst. At a buck a puck it's awful hard not to try it.

Honestly, I shave maybe once every 3 days, I'm looking for a smell good. Anyone know anything about a pine/woodsy smelling soap?
Zach

I know it is probably frowned on in "serious" wet shaving forums, but I order almost everything I use from amazon.

Right now I'm rolling with my Edwin Jagger DE razor, Proraso shave cream, and a cheapo Tweezerman brush (which has worked perfectly well for over a year now, thank you very much).

For a woodsy, masculine, sort of scent, you could do a lot worse than a traditional sandalwood soap or cream.
My personal favorite is the Taylor of Old Bond Street sandalwood, conveniently available via amazon. I have some Proraso sandalwood coming in the mail tomorrow, but haven't tried it yet.

Foxfire.. thankfully we aren't a serious wet shave forum then..lol

I don't use Amazon much but if someone else does whats that to me? I did recently acquire 15 sticks of Arko for 7 and change from there though.

Fatman.. Serious question, and not being a douchebag or hateful or anything.. just genuinely curious. Why do bearded guys go in shave threads?

I shave me head :D

Edited to add, on my scalp, and when I do shave my mug I never use shaving soap/cream just a cheap twin blade razor on my face, and a Norelco triple header on my scalp, sometimes when I want a close shave on my scalp I use the same cheap disposable twin bladed razor and water. Due to working in a place that forbids strong scents, and cologne/perfume/aftershave lotion I very seldom use any of those even on the weekends. Lastly I read all the threads, never know where a nugget of info will pop up, and love to do a little ribbing as well :) all in good fun!

Was just curious..

On several shave forums I'm on people join simply for the sake of posting.. "Don't Shave"
I've never understood it..lol

FWIW: Most of my life I've had some type of facial hair... It was mustache only for many years due to needing the ability you use chemical masks.. Currently working on regrowing my goat, which I cut off one night when I was to tired to trim it.. but I don't like the way sideburns or the sideburn part of a beard feels.

I used to shave daily, while on active duty for 20 years. I now have a santa suit and play santa for the little ones at the hospital I work at :D

LOL... That's awesome though.

I was unfortunately cursed with an Apache beard and no sideburns. If I don't shave every day (or every other day) I look like a kid that glued cat fur to his face.

I can rock a pathetic looking porno 'stash if I really try.

Which, in a way, is why I like it here so much. Wet shave forums can sometimes tend to be elitist and snobby. BoB has always felt laid back, to me.

Shaving, feh! Let your wiskers grow wild!
I usually let 'em go nuts from about September through February. One of these days I plan to go all-out "full beard natural", but I'm not ready for that, yet.
