Slow Smoke Competition

Just got most of the supplies together for tomorrow's slow smoke competition at the Chattanooga Pipe Show.

Sounds interesting, whats the dowels for?

They are the pipe tampers for everyone in the competition. The goal is that everyone has the exact same conditions for the smoke.

Those are always fun.  The last one I was in, we were given a pre-weighed amount of tobacco (same blend), tamper (basic pipe nail), and 3 matches.  Of course there is always someone who doesn't quite get everything lit and going by the 3rd match, so things happen.

Just curisous, what are the specs of your competition? (tobacco type/blend, weight, lighting and relighting capabilities, etc.)
