"Smokestink" on clothing.

As another observation, I spent four hours in a rather smoke-choked room with about ten other pipe'sters all firing up. Hotboxed, no air circulation and had there been a laser-light show, would have been impressive beams everywhere.

About two hours after I had left, I could barely smell the smoke on my clothing. No, my nose wasn't fried, either. This morning, the jacket and cap I wore there were almost free of any smoke smell, and I tested this with a devout non-smoker.

I sometimes spend two minutes holding my breath and racing to the other side of a cigarette moke-filled casino here in Reno, just to get to the diner (which is non-smoking), and just that little trip makes me REEK. My jacket is unusable for days because it smells so bad.

I hear rumors cig tobacco and pipe tobacco are slightly different (no really, I heard this somewhere, once or twice :roll: ) ... it just makes me wonder what is going on there. I can only imagine what cig smoke does to the lungs if it sticks to clothing this bad. What do they do to those things?

My experience is very different, my clothes, hands and surroundings smell and no matter what I do, I cant get the smell out of my beard and mustache. Not that I'm complaining

Cigarette stench is evil. Period.
As a reformed cig smoker, it amazes me how much I've come to loathe the smell of a cigarette. Even if it's coming from the car ahead of me on the freeway, I can smell it! And it's poison!
Pipe smoke/smell has none of the disgusting, lingering quality of those vile sticks.

I tend to notice cigarette smoke more as well. I do think pipe smoke leaves it's scent, but it's different. Not as stale.

The pipe smell is normally a smoother or sweeter smell. I notice Penzance leaves a smell much like an extiguished campfire.

My wife was complaining that she smelled the pipe smoke from the clothes hamper all through the house. After a couple of days, I figured out there was an air freshener in the foyer that smelled uncannily like a pipe. It was giving off a smooth vanilla smell with a hint of smokiness.

I make sales calls with my job and I wish I could smoke Penzance in the morning yet smell like an aromatic blend the rest of the day.

I think that virginas and aromatics don't leave much of a smell. Latakia, on the other hand, leaves a more pronounced and distinctive smell. My wife complains about my clothes stinking, but I often smoke in a cigar lounge and it's the cigar smoke that really makes my clothes smell bad.

+1 to smelling it in my mustache. Latakia especially. People wonder what the hell I'm doing, smelling my mustache, but they know I'm odd. 8)

+1 to cigarette stink: quit the damn things over a decade ago. I don't hate cig smokers, I just pity them. Like I pity Michelob Ultra drinkers, Folgers/Starbucks sippers, and anyone else who has never tried anything besides the status quo. It's cool, I'm sure they pity me because I complain about not having my favorite (insert good-life-stuff here) available. Heheheh.

I was just impressed there wasn't a pervasive reek with pipes. Or it really just smell better and I appreciate it. *shrug*

I like the smell of pipe smoke on me when I catch a whiff in my 'stashe.

Can't imagine it's not there (I'm a Latakia guy) but it comes with the territory. Second best way to identify another pipe smoker.

I belong to a motorcycle organization that has monthly meetings and a lot of the members are cigarette smokers. I always leave the meetings with the bad smell of stale cigarette smoke in my clothes. This is especially bad because my wife is an ex-cigarette smoker with COPD who is very sensitive to smoke smells. I wish we could convert more cigarette smokers over to pipes.

I smoke indoors. I've been on a Carter Hall bender here lately, and it doesn't seem to linger. I used to smoke cigarettes and when I occasionally snuck one indoors when my wife was away. Needless to say, I was always caught, often 8+ hours later. Cigarettes linger like a nasty wet fart, pipe tobacco is like a tasteful perfume, or a room full of old books. An acquired taste, nonetheless, not overly offensive.
