Had this sitting in the shed for a couple years, Im pretty sure its made by "The Metal Stamping Company under the name IDEAL. Anyone ever seen or have anything close to this. My daughter and I started refinishing it today. Possibly 20s or 30s? Just trying to get a little history on it... Thanks
 
Also saw a couple under the name IDEAL-SMOKER if that helps but not in this type.
 
Looks like your classic "smoking stand".
Seen a lot with a dimple in on the top to keep your ashtray in place. Also usually lined with tin or copper.

Keep it next to the large recliner so your dog can bring you your slippers while you enjoy a pipe :D

Always assumed they were for pipes or cigarettes. Keep your large tun of tobacco in there for rolling or piping.
