I happened to catch this 1939 movie starring Spencer Tracy the other evening. I found it particularly enjoyable, having recently endured the History Channel's Expedition Africa just the week before.
One particular item I noticed in the flic was Spencer Tracy lighting up a new Meerschaum pipe while aboard ship. As the movie progresses the pipe is featured in different scenes and the coloring becomes noticeably darker as the movie progresses. At the point of Stanley sharing an evening in Livingston's camp, the pipe is a very attractive grey, probably brown but with the limitations of black/white film, well you know.
