well this messy of winter storm is finally hitting the "burgh" sposed to drop up to 6" in six hours, it has been raining all day, turned to sleet around 2:30 a mix of rain sleet and snow around 3:30,
Oh how I was wishing it it would miss us

Batten down the hatches Mozjo, and aristokles, and Yak!

wow I am glad to hear only up to 6 here, or at least I hope they are right, or err to the low side

It left 11 inches on the ground and 1/4" of ice underneath - here in my part of Missouri.
They are saying from you guys across southern IL at around Benton, 10"-14" of snow atop that ice. What a mess down there. Stay safe and warm!

Hopefully we'll see nothing but the sleet that we got today.
You all can keep the dadburn snow, it's cold enough here without it.

Agree with you there Ron, it's freezing in Scotland at the moment, and the home fires are burning.

Thanks for the well wishes Harry. My wife and I love the snow. The drive home was good, but the accidents on 79 and 376 were bad.

I can't believe how bad the Midwest has got slammed. Stay warm everyone!

Yes sir Ally, I think I'm gett'en too old for the cold when I won't even walk the 80 feet to my shop anymore and certainly wont sit on the porch to have my pipe.

If you guys would wear pants instead of them Kilty things Ally maybe you'd be warmer :p

It's about 35 degrees cooler here that it was yesterday,
but we're not expecting a hard freeze. My daughter
in Dallas may or may not lose a Crepe Myrtle; it
looks like a glass Weeping Willow.

(Still 72 right here next to the window fan)

Up here in DFW we got btwn 1/4 to 1/2 inches of ice then about an inch of sleet till mid morning and never got above 28 and tonight it'll get into the teens. With the wind its giving us a wind chill of - 10 below. And Monday it got up to 80 !! Supposed to get some more sleet/snow tomorrow and not get much above 26! Not a normal start to our usual winter for sure and it's only the 6th of December !! DAMN!!

Normally I don't talk much at all about California weather.

But currently here in Sacramento we have a slight chance of snow tonight. It's been a bit cold.

Befitting Harry, especially since the only thing between me and the cool morning air was some Douglas Tartan wool!

We ended up with 11.5 inches here in town with 1/4" of ice underneath. Never lost power or anything too serious.

Worst part is - when the city & county plow the roads they end up worse than untouched, exposing the ice. :x

Yep. It's winter in the Burgh- not supposed to be for a couple more weeks, but this is no real surprise. It's 28 outside right now and we've 2 1/2 to 3 inches of what looks like snow but is hard packed sleet.
I just came in from my "sunporch" where the temp is 33 - just finished a cob-load of Squadron Leader. It WILL be a while before second smoke of the day happens.

Yep, 28 here with a slight breeze (as usual) and I'm contemplating whether or not to
sit on my porch to have a bowl or not. Odds are I'll go, if not for just a little while.
