It's odd: I really do enjoy Latakia blends, but I haven't yet found any that are on my Top 5. If it's that proverbial desert island, I'm bringing burley.

I can't afford many high end blends so here's my list.

1. Finck's Golden Cavendish

2. Old Red from pipesandcigars.com

3. Blend#255 from Uhles

4. Sugar Barrel from Middleton

5. Guy's Navy Blend from Affordable Pipes

The top five in my current winter rotation:

I like your avatar......That's exactly what I feel like when I smoke a high nicotine tobacco! :lol!:

:pipe:

ha! for me its more like one droopy watery eye in the middle of my face staring at a point in space an inch from my nose. At least that's what strong virginnys make me feel like :suspect:

After 10 years of exclusive (and occasional) aromatic smoking, I have discovered the wondrous new worlds of English blends, Orientals, and sweet Virginias. I'm never looking back!

My top 5 so far are

5. Full Virginia Flake
4. Drama Reserve Oriental by McClelland.
3.Davidoff Flake Medallions.
2. Anniversary Kake by Hearth and Home.
1. Avalon by Jon's Pipe Shop in Columbia, Missouri. I think it's an English. I know it's delicious and cool, and naturally sweet. Wayne, the blender, won't tell me what is in it.

Jeffya2 and Trout Bum - I see you list University Flake as a favorite. I've been working on a tin recently and just haven't been able to get it to behave. I've tried different pipes, different ways packing, and different degrees of drying.

Is there something I'm missing?

And... Happy holidays to all!

My current top five...

1) Penzance
2) Smoking Mixture from Jon's in Champaign, IL
3) McClelland's 2015
4) Red Rapparee
5) Margate
