Does anyone know how to tell if this is an original Tracy Mincer pipe or one that was made when Claude Stuart took over the company? I thought I read somewhere that Claude only reproduced the "Doodler" under the Mincer name, but I could be wrong.
I bought this one as a NOS/unsmoked pipe to actually enjoy myself.
I also wanted to know if anyone knows what the old makers may have used to coat the inside of the bowl with? Up close it almost looks like black paint. I just wonder if I need to sand the inside of the bowl before smoking some toxic substance?

Neat looking pipe ! Tobacco is a toxic substance. Just load it up and put a match to the 'bac and smoke ! :p It's a carbon wash used by many, many makers to help with the cake building. Some folks with OCD sand it off, me I just load it up with my 'bac and smoke ! Enjoy :p
