I recently purchased my first Viking (with a briar bowl and metal stem). It has a heavily brushed bowl that had a red stain. This pipe might have been unused or very little used.

There is no filter or provision for one. Cleaning appears to be by unscrewing the bowl and wiping out the metal cup area, then pip-cleaning the stem, which does not disassemble.

Does anyone have any opinions, tips or advice to Viking users/smokers?

I have a couple of Vikings. Swab out the bowl with a corner of a paper towel. On my Vikings, the bit comes off, but I just leave it on for a pipe cleaner. You are then good to go...

I don't have a Viking, but I think my Falcon is similar. I do the same as Fr Tom. Ocassionally I will take the metal/vulcanite part, which does not seperate on a Falcon, and run some warm water through it followed by a pipe cleaner. I'm not sure why, but this seem to be necessary every 10 or so smokes to get the metal part clean and unrestricted.
Mike.
