Last year there was a discussion about a group from Reno and Sacramento driving to LV. I am not sure if I can go due to a scheduled surgery in my family. Anyone have this trip on their radar?

Man, I really wanna go to a show, any show. This is about as close as it'll get for me, from what I've seen, but I'm afraid when I get there and open my wallet for an awesome piece, only moths will come out...

Let's see how hard it is to convince the wife to go to Vegas. :bounce:

The Vegas Show has turned into the best show of the year IMO.
If you can get there you will have a great time.

Sure wish they'd do the Reno show again
I doubt that'll ever happen again. Reno's too trashy for the "straight grain"/$5k eBay bidders, and is also viewed as "too far" in most people's mind. Unless you live in New Jersey, where everyone thinks Reno is "right next to Vegas."

I dunno, there was a pipe show a few years back in Fresno. Lots of people showed up, the place was pretty packed. Who says you need high rollers who just make pre show hotel room deals to have a succesful show? When a bunch of blue collar and white collar guys show up and just buy a few things, it can be a very good show. The key is venue. You can't book a ballroom at the Grand Foo Foo Palace and expect to do well with regular ol pipe smokers, but if you book the local Grange hall like they did in Fresno, overhead is mighty low.

Tough part is getting a place where you can smoke (California is out). Some place like Carson City, however.... ;)

I think the Grand Sierra Resort here in Reno would be an ideal location.  Very few of the casinos are "non-smoking,"  but they suffer greatly from "Vegasian" image problems.   There's things that would "promote their mission" (of being "classy"), and things that are either too quaint or too random.   The Circus Circus has a tattoo convention every year, though.  Grand Sierra has everything from high-end hunting conventions, to gun shows, to S&M events.   <img class="emojione" alt="?" title="" src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/emojione/assets/png/1f937.png?v=2.2.7"/>

It's possible, just very unlikely.   It'd take a heck of an organizer with some up-front bucks to put a new show together.

i would love a reno or fresno pipe show. i think the number of pipe smokers in CA is actually a fairly large number. problem is i don't have the big bucks to throw a pipe show. and the only guy i do know is one of the ones responsible for the one in vegas... i think he likes the vegas one because the airport is more accessible from around the country. i'll ask him on thursday

I've heard the Palace Station where they hold the show in Vegas is kind of a dump. Not the worst, but certainly not nice.

I know Reno can do better than that place, but the dwindling flight services from the airport here might be a deal-breaker. Plus, the weather here in November isn't nearly as nice as Vegas. Snow and rain are flying at that point.

i'll be there. i should be easy to spot, i will be the unbelievably handsome guy selling unbelievably handsome pipes. anyone else gonna make it?

I'm disappointed that with less than two weeks until the show, there is not a vendor list posted. Not as disappointed as I would be if I was a vendor though. I don't understand how the organizers can put in so much hard work to put the show together only to leave it up to trust/hope/faith that pipe smokers are going to show up not knowing if any of their favorite pipe makers will be there. If I lived in Vegas, it wouldn't be an issue, but it does cost money to get there and stay there. The pipe show isn't important enough that I want to gamble on it.

I know a number of vendors that will be there, it will be a great show. I will be there so if you go I am the big guy with the big beard and the solid arm band tattoo :)

I would appreciate it if you could tell me the vendors that you know will be there.

Thanks

Also,
Bob Swanson (Perry White Pipes), Mark Tinsky was there last year as well, guaranteed the show will be sold out and anyone that can make the event will not be disappointed. I'll be traveling from Boston to Vegas, and the show gets better every year.

Andy - thanks for that .pdf. But I see the list runs out at about Will Purdy.

Les,
There's 2 pages to the list but I also see many vendors' names missing.
Being last years list it should be pretty close but should have been updated for interested attendees.
There are many more vendors each and every year. Grant Baston was there last year as well as Rick and Jane Hopkins from Phoenix who are always great to see with LOADS of new and Estate pipes.
Hope to see you there as well. Just to edge you on, I can tell you that last year I acquired a couple half pound tins of Drucquers tobaccos!!!
:D

Aha. Thank you Doc for that information. That is what I wanted to see. I went last year and enjoyed it quite a bit! I'll be there again this year.

the show was great! wish i had taken some pics... had a chance to meet and hang out with a couple of guys from the forum... good times. already looking forward to next year.
