I like the Norlan small heavy tumbler. But they’re both primo!

I have a set of tasting glasses that The Glenlivet gave away as a premium years ago; never use them. I suppose the glass does affect the taste but I use my old Ralph Lauren rocks gasses. Some habits are hard to break.

Guess I have simple tastes. Evan Williams honey bourbon is a go to, and Yukon Jack. Drank Johnny Walker and Glenlivet for years. Then several months ago I discovered Kirtland brand blended scotch from Costco. $18 a bottle and it's pretty darn good.

I've heard good things about that Kirtland scotch.

Those looks sharp. I don't like glasses with separate bases. I also prefer wine glasses without the stems. They're always a pain in the rump to find a place in the dishwasher, and to be honest, when I buy kitchen junk, that's the first consideration. Is it going to easily fit on a rack? Am I going to have to handwash this stupid thing? No thanks. Those giant wine glasses I always see on TV irritate me. Am I going to run an entire load just to fit four glasses? And I'm not handwashing crap just to look elegant or whatever. It's the same dang vessel. Why do I need a glass column underneath the vessel? Anyone ever eaten in a small, authentic Italian restaurant? They serve wine in small water glasses. They often don't even have special wine glasses. That's my speed.

Crate & Barrel has some nice, heavy-bottomed glasses.

and their small "working glass" is only $2 each, and they feel good in the hand.

Before my family would go out pheasant, duck, or deer hunting, they would always take a sip of Yukon Jack to warm them up. Yeah, I know. Not exactly the most responsible tradition. When I was old enough to drink, I remembered that and tried it the first time I could. You don't see it in many home bars. It took me a while to see it again. I understood once I tried it.

Back when I hunted, deer especially, as season was always in Jan and cold as a well diggers ass in the Yukon, I always started the day with a shot of George Dickel in my coffee. Saved the Yukon Jack for after the hunt.

I like it. You should give it a try. I've been told they have a 12 year old single malt for around $40 but I've never seen it in our local store.
I'm not much of a scotch drinker. I typically have a single bottle of "the good stuff" on hand to commemorate special occasions, because when I was a kid I wanted to grow up to be a cliche, apparently. My current bottle is nearly full, so it's gonna be a while before I'm looking to buy more scotch. :)

Kirkland hootch is bottled by some of the best distilleries in the world. Kirkland Scotch is distilled by either Alexander Murray or Macallan Distillery. Kirkland bourbon and rum is produced by Jim Beam. Kirkland vodka is made from the same water source and by the same employees that Grey Goose uses. And hey, you can buy it in the 50 gal drum!

That’s excellent. They should do a blended Speyside Scotch and name it “Cliche”!

(And pronounce it…Cleech!)

Do Jim Beam products give anyone else a headache? From the awful, base white to higher end, they all give me a headache, even after just a single glass. If they don't, those Kirklands are a good value, for sure.

Yeah…hey, that’s often called Beam Brain. It has to do with some genetic marker thing. Reading up on it, it says the marker also points to likelihood of heartburn, recurring jock itch and an inability to enjoy Valentine’s Day. 😍

I agree on the Kirtlands. Nice taste for sipping at the end of the day. I was pleasantly surprised the first time I bought a bottle and tried.

Good morning all, and a happy Valentines day, lol. Slept in a bit. On the patio with CS Figgy Pudding in a Pete 2021 Xmas Deerstalker and winter blend coffee. A pleasant 41 and sunny.
