My number one consideration is how the pipe smokes. I own 2 Peterson System Standard 302s that are the best smokers in my entire collection. I reach for them constantly.

I received a brick of this last week.  Thanks for the advice on smoking this. I think this is a great sipping tobacco.  It's nice and spicy and stays lit.  It doesn't taste like a burley, it's completely different.  Oddly it reminds me of Tilbury, which is a straight Virginia.  I like this...

I choose my tobacco first which dictates or narrows the pipe choice. I have certain pipes for every category of tobacco: latakia blends, flakes/straight virginias, perique blends and aromatics. I have enough pipes to keep a proper rotation. I admit to being a might anal. :oops:

Beeswax is tough to come by.  I discovered that the seal used to seat toilets is made of beeswax.  You can find these at any hardware store.  I think it works great on a loose stem. Note:  I recommend buying a new toilet seal and not reusing a used one... :shock:

I won't deal with them again. I have sent emails on two occasions with questions regarding my order. No replies. Once they get yer money...

I must admit to being a bit more anal (like Cart) about a clean pipe. I might smoke a pipe twice but at the end the pipe will get a thorough cleaning. The cleaning includes Everclear, several pipe cleaners and sanitizing the stem. In my opinion, a clean pipe is a tasty pipe! :) 

Just a note: we used large commercial ozone machines which pumped large amounts of ozone into the rooms (not the small ozone generators). Ozone (O3) is an oxidant and is caustic. We use it because ozone bonds or reacts to the carbon molecule (causing the smell) and turns it to carbon dioxide...

In a former life, I was a homeowner's insurance adjuster. We paid for outfits (like Servpro or Servicemaster) to mitigate smoke smell using ozone machines. Ozone will destroy plastic or rubber materials over time. We paid to have these items removed before using ozone. Coatings of vaseline...

About a year ago, Bradley posted that he liked to sit out on his deck, smoking his pipe, wearing nothing but his underwear.  He had his wife sew a pipe holder on his underpants for that "official look".

Nice hat!  That's right up there with Bradley's smoker's underwear!
