    SOTD: Shave of the day

No, but I will. That sounds delectable.

The Expanse. Is it the best?

Pretty much to see if you or anyone defends the series on the grounds suggested by my mention of Heinlein or Brown and the rest of what I said. I have been reading the Amazon reviews, and they often cite a reasonable world as a setting, even for someone of my stripe. This could be interesting...

The Expanse. Is it the best?

I bailed on SF as a teenager, to such an extent that I, seriously, have never seen Stars Wars, for example. Too much fantasy, a genre I'm also not interested in. I do have a warm spot in my memory of long ago for the likes of Robert Heinlein, or Fredric Brown, but that's about it. Do these tales...

    Show us your RD Pipe!

They are great smokers, up there with the very best. Kick my ass for not getting one of the morta rhodesians he made before exiting Texas. I have three of his briars, I think. One I smoke hell out of, 'cause it just plain loves latakia blends. But I too have one that I haven't smoked yet. Not...

    SOTD: Shave of the day

Shave of the Day, and pretty much every day: Pre-shave wash: Three Butters Brush: Maggard synthetic Soap: Tabac cream Blade: Astra Platinum Razor: Above the Tie open-comb R2 Aftershave: Epsilon Blue   This razor has become quite awesome, once I learned how to control it. (I was cutting...

    AAD = Axe Acquisition Disorder

This is the way a real man such as myself splits wood. I can do this while smoking a pipe--though I do cheat a little by using a Softee bit. In my dreams. (Suggest reducing the play speed to 75%.) <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/OGQI2-Ug6n0" frameborder="0"...

Painter Hills in a straight billiard, supposedly a Charatan second.

    Driving through Portland, Oregon.

Like most NY cities, Rochester sucks, I don't live there, rarely go there, and carry when I do. The Finger Lakes area, on the other hand, is great. A "pine" tree to me is one of those triangular things that grows out of the ground and doesn't have leaves. I stand corrected. And cities all look...

    For my fellow Whovian pipers

Funny. Played it several times. Is that an actual tobacco, or a Whovian allusion of some sort? Never watched the series.

    Driving through Portland, Oregon.

I passed through once years ago but don't remember it, as I was stretched out in the back of a cargo van recovering from dust pneumonia picked up on the Alcan. Looks somewhat like Rochester. Bigger. Hillier. And pines, pines everywhere. And I got the west coast vibe.

    PAD strikes hard!

A pipe that even a non-smoker could appreciate, assuming a certain aesthetic sensibility. It's over the line for me, though--too pretty to smoke. I might change my mind if I had it in hand. ;)

    Three more bamboo shanks

Your pipe collection boggles the mind, Banjo. 8)

    My special Falcon

Best-looking Falcon ever, man. Blows my meerschaum Falcon right out of the water. (What it was doing in the water perplexes me.)
  14. Richard Burley

Tale of 2 3 knuckle bamboo shanks

Either of those two could make one a Believer in bamboo shanks. Great looking pipes.

    What Are You Smoking Pages.

Morley's Best in a rather large smooth straight GBD billiard. I love this tobacco; I'm trying to think of a burley blend that I like better, and so far have come up with zip. Big 'n Burley made palatable.

    K&K Releasing Dunhill Match Blends

So let's say these wannabe-clones are good substitutes for the Dunhills; how will they fare with the FDA's deeming regulations? (Whatever the hell "deeming" means in this context.)

    What Are You Smoking Pages.

Sugar Barrel in a Cristom 221B Baker Street "Meliora Cogito" silver spigot billiard. (Might be a Ser Jacopo, but I think it's a Cristom. No stamp.)

    How is composed your cellar?

    Well, that's a relief. I had him pegged as a nut. ;)
