I think I would buy it, but only if I could "steal" it. That's assuming they're rare.
 
It actually doesn't look that bad. In the hands of the right repair/ restore person it should be an easy fix.

Agreed. Then again, if that crack is as significant as it looks, that would be a messy smoke. I've owned a couple of those over the years, and they do just what they are designed to do, which is why that one swelled and cracked. Lots of moisture, depending on the tobacco and climate. I think they look cool and are an interesting novelty, but I don't miss owning one. If I was a collector, I would definitely have one, though.
 
If you keep them clean and allow them to dry it's not an issue. Obviously that's not the case here.
 
You could always extend the rustication down to the base and hope for the best. . .
