Funny discussion years ago:

Kid goes and does just that. "Am I punk now?" he asks.
"No, you're a follower."
Punk is a fascinating mindset, if someone grows out of it, they were just listening to the music. In later years, it's just being "punk" to your own circumstances, and trying to achieve non-compliance via anti-sycophancy. The rebellion is always internal, and takes a natural external tone to a strange kind of long-term comfort. Eyes always open.
Hope is beautiful, experience teaches, reality is accepted, but never in submission.
Hipsters are enviably blissful contrary to those notions. I try not to engage in talking to them. :lol:
