Of those categories, it feels like cinema is the one where there's the biggest disconnect between what I admire and what I really like. Probably says something interesting about how media work now.

Bands: Eric Clapton, Eagles, The Who

Authors: I read mostly reference, Bios and autobios. so no real help there

I know what you mean. All of my top 10 lists have at least 63 items on them. With just three I have to consider how I present myself. Should I be edgy or sophisticated? Or should I go obscure and see if anyone shares my interest in, say, '60s Franco/Italian film scores? Oh well. It's late. I'll just try this with the first three to enter my head.

Bands: I like a lot of genres, but I'll stick with pop to keep it simple.

The Police (broke up before they could suck)
Nine Inch Nails (not so fortunate)
Johnny Cash

That was easy.

Authors:

Robert A. Heinlein
Raymond Chandler
Kurt Vonnegut
Henry Miller

Whoops. Slipped a little there.

Movies:

Star Wars. (The first one. Not Episode 1, the first one. Not the special edition, the first one. The one where Han shot first.)
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead
Fallen Angels (Wong Kar Wai)
North by Northwest (go figure)

Dang! I did it again. Waitaminute:

Chasing Amy
The Big Sleep
Reservoir Dogs
Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels

Ok, this is useless. I'm going to bed. Now watch; I'll wake up in an hour and add 9 more to each list. I forgot Sublime! I suck at this. :x :p

Bands:

Jethro Tull
Billy Joel
Runrig

Authors:

Salman Rushdie
Margaret Atwood
Ray Bradbury

Movies:

Spirited Away
Dead Man
Melancholia

Single Malts:

Lagavulin 16 Years
Aberlour a'bunadh
Highland Park 18 Years

I'm with ya Kyle, it would probably be easier for me to list the things I don't like. When it comes to music and art, well I'm a musician and an artist. I was raised on classic rock and metal. I really like Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Peeping Tom, Mondo Cane, Tomahawk) Dax Riggs (Acid Bath, Agents of Oblivion, Deadboy and the Elephant men, And most of his solo work) and the Black Keys, JJ Grey, I love Slayer, but I listen to a lot of blues and southern rock/jam bands to keep me spirits up and not be so angry and aggresive all the time. See what I mean.

As far as authors, I'm a magazine guy. Hot Rod, Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords, Pipes & Tabacco, Nat Geo, Field & Stream, ect. Basically it all interests me, and obviously I like my Mustangs, pipes, fishing, hunting, art ect.

Movies/tv shows: classics, twilight zone, Alfred Hitchcock, horror, scifi, south park :p
American pickers, antique roadshow, dr. G medical examiner, and anything earth science, outdoors, Nat geo, astrology, aliens. It all interests me.

I'm might be schizo, and if I'm not then Nick definitely is! :joker: :lol!:

Gosh, looking at my own list, I am so...

Oh well, I'm "comfortable"... yea, that's it!

You probably won't be too surprised to know that I also like old sweaters with leather patched elbows, Old Spice cologne, and PBR...

I'm going to make one good Grandpa...

wow, jethro tull and McCurtry in the same list, and then the hellecasters? I wanna party with you :)

you guys are way too cool, I want to be best friends with all of you

Not a lot of folks are familiar with McMurtry. Even less so with The Hellecasters. Good to see you are rev.

Cheers,

RR
McCurtry has one of the best lyrics, and I quote it often just because it is so awesome:

though I never intended to bend the rules
whiskey don't make liars it just makes fools
so I didn't mean to say it... but I meant what I said
too long in the wasteland, too long in the wasteland
must of gone to my head

Love it.

Hellecasters are just guitar wizards

how many hipsters does it take to screw in a light bulb?

Its a really obscure number you probably don't know it :)

mate, its all about what you dig. I love punk, blues, and singer songwriter stuff, but I hate country, metal or most modern pop. Its just what it is.
